Foreign companies at Christmas Fair for first time

18 December 2009

The international exhibitions center Moldexpo will be housing the sixth Christmas Fair between December 17 and 22. For the first time this year, the participants in the fair include foreign companies.

“Garlands, baubles, fireworks, presents, souvenirs, cosmetic products and other items were brought together at the Christmas Fair to gladden people's hearts,” said the event's manager Rodica Grigorita. About 60 national large, small and medium-sized companies and 20 Italian companies with a joint stand are taking part in the fair. The Italians exhibited fruit, vegetables and pasta. “The number of participants this year is larger as we have here our Italian partners” said Deputy Minister of Economy Octavian Calmac. According to him, Moldova and Italy have considerably strengthened the bilateral relations during the last few years. He also said that the program of the fair includes charity events for children.

Attending the opening of the Christmas Fair, the Italian Ambassador to Moldova Stefano de Leo approved of the fact that the Italian companies can promote their products alongside the Moldovan companies. According to the organizers, the Christmas Fair aims to support and stimulate the development of the small and medium-sized companies. The fair is a place where one can assess the quality of the products and study the competition environment and consumer demand.
