State marks on alcoholic products to be annulled

12 November 2009

The Government approved amendments to the law on the manufacture and circulation of ethyl alcohol, annulling the state marks.

Since 2006, the alcoholic products could be exported only if they were accompanied by certificates of origin and state marks. “The costs of purchasing and putting the state marks on packing and of obligatorily certifying the exported products are high and have a negative effect on the cost price,” said Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Valeriu Cosarciuc. The producers and exporters of alcoholic products during December 2006 – September 2009 bought about 209.5 million state marks for 0.20 lei apiece, to the value of approximately 42 million lei, Cosarciuc said, voicing hope that such a move will facilitate exports.
