Construction-assembly works decrease in volume

The building contractors over January-September 2009 carried out construction-assembly works to the value of 2.325,4 billion lei, which is 63.6% of the volume for the corresponding period last year, reports the National Bureau of Statistics.

The works to erect new constructions came to 1.506,1 billion lei, making up 64.8% of the total volume of executed works. The maintenance and extensive repair works constituted 34% of the works performed by contractors. The volume of works at residential and nonresidential institutions decreased by 41.3% and, respectively, 37.3%, while at piping systems – by 32.9%. The private economic entities carried out 86.4% of the works to the value of 2.009,4 million lei.
