More than 450 firms from Moldova and 15 other countries are participating in the exhibitions Moldagrotech and Farmer, launched today, October 21, at Moldexpo in Chisinau.
“It is very important to ensure the development of agriculture, considering the specifics and the traditions of our country, as well as the fact that only a modern agriculture will allow us to change the aspect of our countryside, so that we can have beautiful villages with all the conditions needed for a normal and meaningful living”, stated Mihai Ghimpu, Speaker of Parliament and concurrently Moldova's acting president, at the opening ceremony of the specialized exhibitions.
“What is important is that these exhibitions bring producers together with potential buyers. They present a unique possibility of discussing new products, financing schemes, purchases of new equipment, modern technologies for producing and packaging”, said Minister of Agriculture Valeriu Cosarciuc. The minister added that the Government's priority in the agricultural sector is to promote products with a high added value, in particular in the areas of vegetable and fruit production and vine-growing.
Particular attention will also be paid to the development of small and mid-sized enterprises dealing in processing agricultural raw materials. These companies, which are more flexible than the bigger ones, could meet the demand of the domestic market, which currently abounds in imports, the minster said. Other key tasks concern the quality infrastructure and the safety of agricultural products. The fairs will run until October 25. The participants have on display a great variety of agricultural products, seeding materials, flowers, etc.
