Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation to convene in Chisinau

8 February 2010

The 11th meeting of the Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation will take place in Chisinau on February 5, reports the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, who is the commission's co-chairman on behalf of Moldova.

Lazar said the agenda of the meeting includes issues concerning the Moldovan-Russian relations, such as the elimination of barriers to trade, including by opening two additional points through which the Moldovan wines will be exported to Russia. One of them will be located in Saint Petersbourg.

“The discussions will center on trade, energy, industrial production cooperation, culture and other areas. The agenda is complex as the commission did not come together last year for unknown reasons. The last meeting was held in 2008 and the problems accumulated,” he said.

Lazar also said that the Russian partners are disposed to develop and diversify the bilateral relations, the meeting of the Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation being a proof of this.
